Seafood Update – 25th November 2013
Fish: Please check out our availability of fresh fish for this week that is all locally caught and guaranteed product of Australia. All processing is completed under strict HACCP guidelines ensuring premium product is delivered fresh to your door.
Fresh Ordering Change: Please remember all orders for fresh fish are required to by placed by 1.30pm Monday to Thursday for next day delivery.
Imported Products: Prawn Cutlets Marinated and Natural price has continued to escalate with each container unloading into port. This is trend is expected to continue well into January 2014 from indications by some importers. Apart from cutlets it has also impacted into prawn meat and cooked vannamei prawn. Some restaurant establishments have downgrade sizes they were originally offering to minimise portion costing. We are not anticipating any price relief on these products until after the Chinese New Year, when it is hoped there will be more product in the marketplace.
Imported Fillets: With new shipments of imported fillets occuring more frequently, there will be a good range of all species and grades for the festive season.
Sealord Brands: There has been severe shortage of orange roughy in all grades over the last few months but positive news is that the product will now be sent to China for processing after being caught in the chilly New Zealand waters. Once processed it will be then distributed nationally ,this procedure is expected to ease the backlog of orders and reflect more consistent supply coming into the festive season.
Local Prawns: Catches of local ocean king prawns have started to decline due to seasonality and prices are on the traditional upwards.Be quick to secure frozen stock as I have a healthy unload of a boat later this week.
Oysters: Our processor is now sourcing oysters from Tasmania at Pipeclay Lagoon, as they are a better quality and size over what is currently available out of South Australia.
Specials: Remember to check out our special 5 carton buy on 5 different products for the next 2 weeks, As well as our new Christmas catalogue loaded with some hot seafood specials here.
