February Seafood Update
Fish: Welcome to 2014! Please check out our availability of fresh seafood for this week on our updated list here.
All our fresh fish is locally caught and guaranteed product of Australia. All processing is completed under strict HACCP guidelines, ensuring premium product is delivered fresh to your door.
Fresh Ordering Change: Please remember all orders for fresh fish are required to be placed by 1.30pm Monday to Thursday for next day delivery.
Imported Products: With the weakening of the Australian dollar, this has resulted in a price increase in most of the imported products arriving in Australia, in particular, tiger and vannamei prawns, there is also an expected smaller increase on imported fish fillets mainly due to the cyclonic weather conditions experienced in previous months, which has effected the availability of raw materials. However, we are securing product at the most competitive pricing in the marketplace to minimise any price increases to the customer.
Sealord Brands: We are still experiencing supply issues of Orange Roughy, Hoki and squid due to very poor catches. Presently all of these products are on allocation from the importer and demand far outweighs availability of supply at present time. We are hoping as we enter the cooler weather and colder water conditions, there will be an improvement in the products available.
Local Prawns: A large number of the trawlers are attempting to secure product, however are being hampered by our current cyclonic conditions. This is expected to improve by mid-February when we should start to see good catches of King and Tiger prawns in most sizes.
Oysters: Our processor is currently sourcing oysters from Tasmania and South Australia, depending on which location can offer the best quality oysters. Spawning of most oysters is now behind us and good plump oysters will become available.
Specials: Remember to check out our special 5 carton buy on 5 different products for the next 2 weeks, as well as our February Hot Sheet Specials here.
